We\u2019re 26 employees\u2014mainly developers\u2014but a couple of us are working more with strategical technical advice and helping media companies across the world with technology advice and building tech stacks.\u201d He notes that the company started on the streaming and delivery side, and \u201cnow we\u2019re actually moving upwards the value chain, especially for live production, because that\u2019s where we see a lot of technology advancements are happening \u2026 at the moment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fore-Siglin wonders how such a small company attracts clients. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.streamingmediaglobal.com\/Articles\/Editorial\/Featured-Articles\/Divvying-Up-the-Growing-Digital-Ad-Spend-171253.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Divvying Up the Growing Digital Ad Spend\">Svensson<\/a> points to two things: tech blogging to share information about advancements and open source development. \u201cAs soon as we have an idea, or as soon as we want to try out a new concept, we do an open source component,\u201d he elaborates. \u201cWe publish that, and people find us through <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"GitHub\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GitHub<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and they want to talk to the people that create the component they\u2019re doing.\u201d In addition, Eyevinn Technology has been working with \u201cbroadcasters to do joint development on an open source component. So we share the cost, and the broadcasters get what they need, and we get an assignment to do open source.\u201d After Fore-Siglin wonders about the broadcasters\u2019 locations, Svensson clarifies they\u2019re primarily from the Nordics and Europe, but the U.S. and Canada as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Where the Industry Is Going\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fore-Siglin asks, \u201cDo I remember you used to [do]\u2014perhaps you still do\u2014a podcast called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/newsletters\/game-of-streams-6893511444332199936\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Game of Streams\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Game of Streams<\/span><\/em><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Svensson confirms he runs this as a blog series, \u201cwhere I try to sort of challenge the market a little bit and challenge the industry a little bit with my thoughts of where we should be and where we\u2019re going.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fore-Siglin builds on this: \u201cSo give me an example of one or two of those things that we should be thinking about as an industry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen I visited <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.streamingmedia.com\/Articles\/News\/Online-Video-News\/IBC2025-Creators-Taking-Over-the-Industry-171463.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"IBC 2025\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IBC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, I saw a pretty big gap between what the vendors were trying to push and what the broadcasters and the media companies wanted to buy. They want to buy a flexible, component-based architecture where they can pick and choose the components that suit them best and build the orchestration themselves or the vendors are trying to do with a big bang box [that] solves everything. And that\u2019s the gap I see,\u201d Svensson notes. \u201cAnd with AI coming in now and the way you can do [things] with AI, I see that orchestration is no longer a product. It\u2019s code.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fore-Siglin points out, \u201cIt sort of goes back to the mentality of traditional broadcasters, whether they were one volt peak to peak or, say, IP delivery. They\u2019re used to modular systems. Something goes down, you pop a module out, you stick a new module in. So it\u2019s interesting to hear you say that that mental shift in the vendor side hasn\u2019t necessarily happened.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Svensson acknowledges that they want to make that shift, but the legacy of how they make their money is holding them back. \u201cThere are initiatives coming up now where I\u2019m working closely with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebu.ch\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"European Broadcasting Union, EBU\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">European Broadcasting Union, EBU<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, together with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"CBC\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CBC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a few others in the North America with an architecture called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tech.ebu.ch\/groups\/dmf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"DMF, Dynamic Media Facilities\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DMF, Dynamic Media Facilities<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is a component-based architecture, containerised media functions, orchestrated by a shared storage and orchestration,\u201d he notes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.streamingmedia.com\/Conferences\/Connect2025-Dec\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Join us December 9-11 and tune in for more great conversations at Streaming Media Connect!
