I joined the company and the industry back in May,\u201d she says. \u201cIt has been a very exciting time, I think, to make an entry into media and broadcasting. There\u2019s clearly a lot of transformation and transition in the industry.\u201d She notes that her first few months have been eventful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fore-Siglin asks her to clarify that she wasn\u2019t previously working in streaming media.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMy background\u2019s in AI, robotics, B2B software, so adjacent,\u201d Gammelgard replies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fore-Siglin inquires whether she\u2019s participating in any panels at the conference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019re actually participating in two panels here. My counterpart Barry [Owen] is heading up one today <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.streamingmedia.com\/Articles\/News\/Online-Video-News\/Sneak-Preview-Cloud-vs.-On-Prem-vs.-Hybrid-Workflows-Whats-Next-at-Streaming-Media-2025-171157.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"on-prem vs hybrid vs cloud streaming\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on cloud, hybrid, and on-prem<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is near and dear to everything that we do at Wowza. And then tomorrow actually, we\u2019re on the Reader\u2019s Choice panel [because] we were <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.streamingmedia.com\/Articles\/Editorial\/Featured-Articles\/Industry-Champions-Revealed-The-2025-Streaming-Media-Readers-Choice-Awards-171668.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"streaming media readers&#039; choice awards 2025\">selected for a Readers&#8217; Choice Award<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Pendulum Swings<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fore-Siglin wonders what Gammelgard is expecting from her first time at the conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFor me, I think getting an understanding of how everyone else is kind of riding with the change in the industry\u201d is what she appreciates about the event. Gammelgard points to the pivots she\u2019s noticing that are coming from the industry. \u201cPart of the reason we\u2019re doing the panel [is that] we\u2019re seeing so many people kind of move away from pure cloud and really start thinking about how they want to own and manage their own infrastructure. \u2026 We see that in our customer base, but is that happening in the broader world? So I think getting out of our own echo chamber and coming to meet other people is really valuable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fore-Siglin notes that he\u2019s recently talked to colleagues of hers at Wowza about how often <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.streamingmedia.com\/Articles\/Editorial\/Featured-Articles\/Location-Location-Location-Cloud-vs.-On-Prem-vs.-Hybrid-Streaming-Workflows-153548.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"on-prem vs hybrid streaming workflows\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the streaming pendulum swings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to something new among cloud, hybrid, and on-prem options. He says it \u201cfeels like the accounting people are back to, \u2018Hey, we probably really ought to own some hybrid version of this thing.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gammelgard agrees that cost is a partial factor, but it\u2019s also that \u201cwe\u2019re seeing this broadly in all B2B software and just software across the board. Because of AI, there\u2019s a lot of concerns about data security and then of course the complexity of everything that you\u2019re doing has just exploded.
