Denver Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson will undergo an MRI to diagnose the extent of a right knee injury suffered in Tuesday night’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The injury occurred with 9:18 remaining in the game. He was aided off the court after falling and grabbing his knee. He did not return.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

“Hopefully, it’s better than it looked,” Denver coach David Adelman said, confirming the upcoming MRI.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

The Nuggets lost 131-130. They already are without two starters — guard Christian Braun (ankle), out since a Nov. 12 injury, and forward Aaron Gordon (hamstring). Gordon sustained his injury on Nov. 21.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Johnson, 29, is averaging 11.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 28 games (all starts) this season, his first in Denver.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

The Nuggets acquired Johnson in an offseason trade with the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Michael Porter Jr. and a first-round pick in 2032.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

A first-round draft pick in 2019, Johnson also previously played for the Phoenix Suns.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

He has career averages of 12.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 368 games (209 starts).<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
