Mandatory Credit: Morgan Tencza-Imagn Images <\/span><\/div>\n<\/section>\nAustin FC acquired winger Facundo Torres from Brazil’s Palmeiras for a reported $9.5 million transfer fee on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The 25-year-old Uruguay international returns to MLS and is signed through 2029-30 with an option for 2030-31.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Torres starred with Orlando City SC from 2022-24, tallying 37 goals and 16 assists across 95 regular-season matches.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n “Facundo has proven attacking quality as shown by his stellar goal and assist numbers throughout his career,” said Austin FC sporting director Rodolfo Borrell. “He is at a prime age to join us and immediately be a top contributor as we aim to push on this season.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n <\/p>\n Torres contributed 10 goals and six assists in 61 appearances for Palmeiras in the Brazilian Serie A.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n He will occupy a designated player spot for Austin but has a U.S. green card and will not take an international slot.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n “I couldn’t be happier to be an Austin FC player,” Torres said. “The ambition behind what the club is building and the incredible soccer community there were both big factors in convincing me that this was the right move to make.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
